Things to Bring
Come prepared to spend long days in the field and the lab. We suggest you try and bring a daypack, raingear, sturdy-shoes and water bottle, if you have an increment borer and would like to learn how to sharpen and clean it, bring that too. If you have a laptop you should bring it, wireless Internet access is available. Don’t forget your personal things like toothpaste and toothbrush.
Local information and traveling
The fieldweek will be organized at the Mekrijärvi Research Station (now the University of Joensuu and from 1.1.2010 the University of Eastern Finland). It is located in eastern Finland (62°46’N, 30°59’E) having accommodation facilities with full board up to 70 people, lecture halls, pc class rooms etc. More information is available from http://www.joensuu.fi/mekri/. To travel from Helsinki to Mekrijärvi there is two options. In both options you travel from Helsinki to Joensuu and we organize a separate transportation from Joensuu to Mekrijärvi.
From Helsinki to Joensuu you can go

- by plane.
