The excursion fee covers field guide, bus transportation, accommodation and meals.

In the registration form inform an alternative post-conference excursion in case of your first choice is cancelled or overbooked.

Important information for all presenters:
Abstracts will be reviewed and notification of acceptance for oral/poster presentations will be sent to the corresponding authors by the end of January 2010. All oral and poster presenters are requested to register and pay the conference fee before 1 March 2010 – if not, the presentation will be cancelled.

Registration fee for conference participants includes (applies to all participant categories):

  • Conference material
  • Lunches and coffee/tea during breaks from Monday to Friday
  • Admission to Arktikum exhibitions on Sunday 13 June
  • Welcoming party at Arktikum on Sunday 13 June
  • Rovaniemi City reception on Tuesday 15 June
  • In-conference tour on Wednesday 16 June

Registration fee for accompanying persons (early bird rate 160 €, late rate 200 €) includes:

  • Admission to Arktikum exhibitions on Sunday 13 June
  • Welcoming party at Arktikum on Sunday 13 June
  • Rovaniemi City reception on Tuesday 15 June
  • In-conference tour on Wednesday 16 June

The Farewell dinner and the post-conference excursions (information about farewell dinner and excursions on the left sidebar) are optional with separate participation fees.

Reduced registration fees

The ‘early bird’ rate is available for participants who register and pay the fee before 1 March 2010 (see above).

Special reduced registration fee is offered for participants listed below. Note that only one reduction per participant is available.

1. Students

Full time students and PhD students who have an oral or poster presentation in the conference are eligible for reduced early bird fee of 320 € (maximum of 50 students), otherwise normal early bird rate is 520 € / late rate 600 €.

Students are requested to provide proof of full time student status (ID card or letter from your institution or programme director). Please send it to the conference office as soon as you have sent in your registration.

2. Other financial support

The participants listed below have an option to apply for financial support for their registration fee:

a. Participants from countries with developing and least developed economies (Africa, Asia and the Pacific (excluding Japan, Australia, New Zeeland and the member States of CIS in Asia), Latin America and the Caribbean) may apply support provided by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland. The basis of this financial support is an oral or poster presentation in the conference. The support will cover the registration fee of 30 participants. To apply, you need to tick the appropriate box in the registration form ( Applicants will be notified of the support in February 2010.

b. Nordic Forest Research Co-operation Committee (SNS) will provide support for WorldDendro 2010 for researchers from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden, as well as colleagues from Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania and northwestern Russia. The motivation for the SNS support is to encourage regional cooperation in dendrochronological research. To achieve the goal, a Nordic meeting will be held on Thursday the 17th of June at the University of Lapland, the venue of WorldDendro 2010.

All participants are warmly encouraged to present ideas for future cooperation between Nordic colleagues in the meeting. You are encouraged to present your ideas about Nordic networking by email to wd2010[email protected]

In practice, the SNS support will cover the participation fee of 20 successful applicants. Young researchers especially are encouraged to apply. To apply, you need to tick the appropriate box in the registration form ( Applicants will be notified of the support in February 2010.

Registration fees include VAT 22 %. All payments must be made in Euros (€) by bank transfer, invoice or credit card.

Please send a copy of the bank receipt to the Conference Office. Make sure that the participant's name and WorldDendro 2010 are clearly stated in the payment message field to ensure that the payment is correctly registered.

2) Invoice Invoice will be sent by email in PDF-form or by mail. Confirm the invoicing address in the Notes-field of the registration form, if it differs from your contact information.

3) Credit card payment (Visa, MasterCard, EuroCard, no other credit cards accepted) If you choose the credit card alternative, the Conference Office will send you by email a separate credit card authorization form to handle the payment.

Cancellation policy

Cancellations must be notified in writing by fax or email to the Conference Office. Registration fees will be refunded if cancellation is received before 1 May 2010. No refunds will be made for cancellations received after this date. Please note that a processing fee of 50 € will be deducted from all refunds.

Travel visas

Participants who require a visa are requested to apply it from the Finnish Embassy/Consulate that represents Finland in their home country. Please send in your conference registration and add your visa invitation request in the text field at the end of the registration form. Rovaniemi-Lapland Congresses will send you a letter of invitation for visa purposes. The invitation is intended to help participants to obtain a visa and does not represent a commitment by the organizer to provide any financial support.
